Information Systems Unit

The general role of the Information Systems unit is to provide Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in order to enable the Bureau to achieve its objectives.

The unit is responsible for providing information technology based solutions where appropriate, such as implementing and maintaining network infrastructure, developing and maintaining custom software applications and providing technical support to the Bureau's staff members.

Projects implemented by the unit were: the development of the Bureau's website, the development of a software application to aid in the verification and correction of raw census data (Mar 2004), the implementation of a local area network in the Bureau of Statistics (Sep 2004), the development of data entry software for capture of migration statistics (Oct 2004), implementation of a new trade statistics system using data from Total Revenue Integrated Processing Systems (TRIPS) (Jan 2007), roll-out of DevInfo 5.0 software training for social sector line ministries and other agencies (Apr-Aug 2007).
